Computers: Bablex

Welcome to Bablex!

Bablex is a lightweight text markup language.

In other words, it is a method of adding of symbols to text to bring out its meaning.

It is designed both to clarify the structure of plain text documents, and to make them automatically translatable to HTML.

In this, it is similar to languages such as BBCode, Creole, and Markdown.

But Bablex differs in the way it balances these aims. While most such languages act primarily as an intermediate form during the generation of HTML, Bablex focuses on creating clear, consistent, and intuitive plain text, which is more readable in itself whether or not it is later translated into a web page.

Having said that, care has been taken to produce valid, logical, tidy HTML5, applying its new semantic tags, and extracting metadata from the text.

I developed Bablex for my own use, but it is free and open source, so if you happen to find it useful, enjoy.

Use the link to open a guide the language. (This was written in Bablex and translated to HTML, and so it will open in a new browser window, outside this website's menu system.)
